I’m a breafast girl. I LOVE breakfast food. My kids often ask to do breakfast for dinner…and I’m absolutely fine with that!
But, because we enjoy things like pancakes and muffins, I’ve made it my mission to find ways to make them much healthier.
Pure mayple syrup is a much healthier alternative to a lot of the store bought “fake” syruprs. But, if you’d like an alternative to maple syrup to top your pancakes or waffles with, look no further! This homemade fruit syrup is simple to whip up and a healthy alternative. It also makes a great topping for ice cream, french toast, or oatmeal. I love how quickly it comes together!
Simple Fruit Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup fruit
1/4 cup monk fruit sweetener
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp arrowroot or cornstarch
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook until mixture has reached a syrup consistency (about 10 minutes). You can choose to mash the fruit while it is cooking, or leave it whole. Once thickened, use it to top your favorite breakfast foods! Here are some of our favorites:
If you decide to give this recipe a try, I’d love to hear what you think!
